Besides schools remain farm offices and forestry manorhouses pretty well.
Hof Habbat (Мз. Хаббат) is propably best known manor and state farm as well in Kau district. Massacre of Habbat is one of the highlights in the war of Machter, middle-estonian bloody revolt in 19th century.
World War II left its scars also here.
In the beginning of the 21th century, the best known action in Habbat was the locktown of village by Estonian security police special unit.
However, the main building of hof Habbat is standing. In the cellars were twenty years ago poplar bar that burned down. A lucky event.
Inside, you never know what you find behind these soviet planks. You know only that there are elements from XVIII century.
There was a time when the sovkhoz (Советское хозяйство) of Habbat included Ardu district as well. Ardu farmers believed that Habbat ones wrote them some agricultural results better than real but heartland of Habbat is very fertile. From this hatch, millions of rubles were given in the time of soviet era.

Ei ole nagu kuulnud, et kapol Habajal toimetamist oleks olnud?
Kas see just kapo oli aga bussitäis maskides automaatidega eriüksuslasi, poe ees seltsimehed näoli asfaldil maas käed kukla tega, sajad Habaja inimesed seda tunnistamas?
Estonian Security Police on lihtsalt kapo ametlik inglisekeelne nimetus. Mis tingis sellise eriüksuse operatsiooni, sellega on kõik sajad Habaja inimesed ka täiesti hästi kursis ja vaevalt et politsei tegevust valeks peavad, antud seltsimehi arvestades. Ehk mõned neist ka sellega, et kohtulahend asja kohta on avalikkusele kättesaadav.
Aitüma valgustamast, näe üks naaberküla elanik ei olnud nii kursis kõige sellega aga ju siis kõik ülejäänud inimesed, keda see puudutab, on.
